What Can Ray Brown Do For You?
Hello, I'm Ray Brown, candidate for City Council Place 1. I will do my best to answer that question, and if you agree that my qualifications and priorities would improve our city council, I would appreciate your vote.
Qualifications
- 30-year resident of Keller and Keller area
- Master of Business Administration in Management
- Certified Public Accountant since 1963
- 26 years with Internal Revenue Service
- 22 years private CPA practice, during which I have audited cities
- 6-1/2 years on the Planning & Zoning Commission, 6 years as Chairman
If elected I will work to:
- Change the inflexible "My way or the highway" attitude that is driving business from Keller to neighboring cities.
- Initiate a culture change to ensure that citizens are always treated with dignity and respect by the city.
- Insist that city finances be open to the council for detailed scrutiny.
- Curtail excessive "interest only" financing that has cost taxpayers millions of dollars.
- Limit the use of Certificates of Obligation to true emergencies and infrastructure (fire, roads, etc.), not as a substitute for voter approval of amenities.
I understand that a city council member cannot "specialize" and that a variety of issues must be resolved--my years on the P&Z taught me that. However, my training and experience is focused on financial management and financial integrity, and it is in that area that I believe I am especially qualified to serve at a time when voters are demanding transparent government.
If you agree with me, I hope you will cast your vote for Ray Brown.
